Midsummer Magic

It was a cool rainy day, but over forty people turned up to enjoy our Midsummer Magic event on Saturday 6 June. There was a fantastic woodland den using fallen branches collected from round and about in the wood. Others created flower crowns or bug hotels to support local nature. It was clear from people’s faces that they were having lots of fun.

We had a produce stall where plants, bulbs, homemade preserves and other goodies were available and a stall selling home made and delicious samosas, bhajis and cream puffs.

As always refreshments were provided to keep us going through the morning. We had loads of delicious cakes and biscuits baked by our volunteers. The morning ended with everyone toasting marshmallows over an open fire.

Thank you to everyone who made a donation during the morning. In all over £90 was raised. We will be putting some of this money to work immediately replacing very worn work gloves used in our conservation activities in the Wood.

Meanwhile, our volunteers also did a great job cutting back the undergrowth along some of the main paths and digging out regrowth of some of the non-native and invasive species we had taken out last winter. Stirling work by all involved!
