Dead hedge update

We had a fantastic Volunteer Action Morning at the beginning of October. The sun shone and we cracked through the last section of the stretch of dead hedge we’ve been creating this year down the Copgrove Road boundary.

We’ve really got into our stride with this now and will start work on the next section in the New Year.

Dead hedges are fantastic habitat for beetles, bugs and all manner of creatures, especially over the winter, creating great sheltered spots for hibernation, as well as food. Our dead hedge will also strengthen this boundary against access by quads and dirt bikes once access controls are in place across the entrances, helping to make the Wood safer.

Even better, we’ve planted Dogrose alongside it, so in a couple of years it should be covered in roses every Spring and Summer!
