WE ARE THE FRIENDS OF GIPTON WOOD
We are a group of local volunteers who care for this valuable ancient woodland at the heart of our community. Our mission is to help make Gipton Wood a thriving woodland for Nature, the community and the future. We are proud of our story and impact. Friends of Gipton Wood formed in 2000 in response to fly tipping and general neglect. Gipton Wood was home to burnt out cars and discarded sofas. Today, thanks to our work, the Wood is a beautiful and accessible green space, home to rare ancient woodland species, a thriving space for Nature in the heart of the city.
