Our Management Plan

OUR MANAGEMENT PLAN

Leeds City Council and Friends of Gipton Wood agree a five year Management Plan for Gipton Wood on a rolling basis. You can find the latest Plan and details of our activities below.

The Management Plan is the formal document written to a Forestry Commission template that sets out the nature of the Wood and our objectives and principle activities. This is the document agreed between Leeds City Council and Friends of Gipton Wood that sets out the parameters of the conservation activity and works that can be undertaken by the Friends during the five year period.

Management Plan 2024-2029

Our Business Plan sets out Friends of Gipton Wood’s response to the Management Plan and provides greater detail for the works we intend to undertake over the five years so that we can plan our finances and activities.

Business Plan 2024-2029

To support the development of our work, and to understand what more we can do to improve the ecological health and diversity of the Wood, we commissioned an ecological survey to identify and recommend actions that we could take. The survey was carried out by Brooks Ecological Ltd, a local company, with the support of Leeds City Council, and was funded by Roundhay Environmental Action Project and Morley Glass.
