Get Involved

Get Involved

Whether it’s one of our community events, a regular volunteer action morning, or just getting out and about in Nature, there are loads of ways to get involved in the Wood – now and to help keep it thriving for the future.

Events

We hold regular community events inspired by the Wood and making the most of Nature’s playground.

From woodland crafts to bat walks, fungi forays to dawn chorus larks, there’s sure to be something to try coming soon!

Explore

There is lots to explore in the Wood, getting up close with nature and history. From ancient ditches to hollow trees, from trees to climb up to the gully to descend down, all accessible from the network of paths criss-crossing the site.

Volunteer With Us

We meet on the first Saturday of every month, 10am-12noon, for our regular Volunteer Action Morning to undertake conservation of the wood. Tea and cake at 11! We also hold ad hoc Volunteer Action Meets on weekday evenings for specific activities.

All volunteering events meet at the green arch at the end of Gipton Wood Road, LS8 3AQ (Google maps pin link).

Just turn up, no need to book. Please wear old tough clothing with robust footwear.

help out

If you don’t want to take part in physical activity, we would welcome cake makers, historians, web managers, event organisers, fundraisers, administrators and anything else!

Donate

Gipton Wood is a beautiful but fragile woodland site. As a group of volunteers, our conservation work relies on donations from those that love the Wood.
